Abstract

The Magadha Burrowing frog (Sphaerotheca magadha) described in 2019 from Jharkhand is being reported for the first time from West Bengal State with the collection of three specimens from Paschim Bardhaman district. The specimens were photographed in the field, preserved and then deposited in Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata where morphological and morphometric studies were carried out for proper species identification. This is the first record of the species from any other State of India outside its type locality.
