First record of the olive barb Systomus sarana (Hamilton, 1822) (Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae) from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India

The present study reports the occurrence of olive barb Systomus sarana (Hamilton, 1822) for the first time from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India based on four specimens collected from the Diglipur area, North and Middle Andaman district, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A systematic account of this species has been provided. This finding represents a new addition to the freshwater fish fauna of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India.
