Abstract

The new combination Pseudonapaeus purii (Ray, 1951) (= Ena purii Ray, 1951) is proposed, based on a morphological re-examination of the type specimen of a land snail housed in the National Zoological Collections of the Zoological Survey of India, and re-discovered after a gap of 67 years from the proximity of the type locality. The occurrence of such a land snail even after 67 years since it was discovered in the landscape indicates the suitability of the habitat for such a climatesensitive organism, however, demands in-situ protection. The illustration of the type series and justification for its transfer are discussed herein.
