A new record of Schistura reticulata from Myanmar with a note on fish diversity of Yu River

Abstract

Ichthyofaunal diversity of the Yu River in the Sagaing region of Myanmar is reported in this paper. A total of 49 species of fishes belonging to 38 genera and 19 families are recorded from the river. The region’s fish fauna includes two endangered, two vulnerable, one near threatened, twenty-nine least concern and three under data deficient categories of IUCN. An endangered species, Schistura reticulata Vishwanath & Nebeshwar (2004), is reported for the first time from Myanmar.
